Snow Family Film – May 2019 | Drayton Valley Photographer & Family Filmmaker
This film is extra special to me, because mom Kristen was technically my first family film client. She messaged me and booked instantly about 37 seconds after I had announced that I was offering family films back in January of this year. I knew she wanted exactly what I was envisioning in my head for my family film clients; our energies around the film just meshed so well, you know? Our schedules didn’t allow us to make our session work until May, but it was so worth the wait.
We spent some time mid-day together with her family and her sister’s family, who were in town for the weekend. It was such an awesome chill session spent just hanging out in the back yard. There was baseball, a trampoline, a zip-line, and some time around a fire. And spider-dogs. What are spider-dogs, you ask? They’re not a weird canine-arachnid alien combination from outer space, which was the first thought that popped into my mind (???). Turns out they’re a super-funky way to cook a hot dog. You’ll see one closer to the end of the film, but you basically cut a hot dog into quarters lengthwise from each end almost to the middle, and when you roast it over the fire the eight “legs” start to curl and it ends up looking like a spider. So fun, right?? A little tricky to fit into a hot dog bun, but that’s not really the point.
If you’re having trouble envisioning this, click on the video and have a look through the photos to see spider-dogs and all the other fun family activities these guys got up to during our time together.
Looking at these photos sure makes me long for the days of summer. Only seven-plus months of snow, ice, and cold temps until we get weather like this again. We can do this guys. Winter will not break us!! Until then, stay warm and cozy my friends.
