Goertzen Family Keepsake Film – January 12, 2019 | Drayton Valley Family Filmmaker

If you’ve had children, I want you to think back to when they arrived earth-side.   You know that feeling the first time you see them, the first time they’re placed in your arms…when your entire body fills with looooooooooove, when you want to laugh and cry and smile and squeeeeze them all at the same time, when your heart feels like it’s LITERALLY going to EXPLODE??!!  That’s how I feel about this film.  Like it’s my baby.

Family films is an area I’ve been wanting to explore for over two years now, but I just hadn’t gotten down to business and put the time in to educate myself and practice enough to shoot them for clients until now.  Can I just say I have absolutely ZERO regrets that I finally took the time to do all that?  I have been living, breathing, eating, drinking everything family films for the last few weeks, and I’m thrilled to say that I will now be offering them to my clients.

This film holds a special place in my heart; it’s my little brother’s family, and they’re pretty much the perfect candidates for a family keepsake film.  Their typical Saturday involves snuggles in bed with mom and dad, dance parties in the kitchen, a big breakfast, and then usually some kind of outdoor activity.  So that’s what we filmed.  It’s as simple as that; these films don’t need to be complicated, they don’t require any posing whatsoever, and you can run around in your underwear if that’s your jam.  (Want proof?  Watch my niece in the film).

My first family keepsake film for a client. We filmed their typical Saturday morning, jammies, pancakes, and kitchen dance parties included. And I've still got alllllll the feels from showing them that their everyday moments are BAH-YOU-TIFUL.

I was extremely pleased with how this project turned out, but at the same time so nervous to present it to this family.  I told them as much too (you know me, I like to keep it real).  I wanted them to love it as much as I did!  Mom’s reaction in the first 15 seconds confirmed that I had nothing to worry about.  If you’d like to read about that reaction and what her and her husband thought of the whole experience, click on this review and hear it from them!

If you’re interested in family films, I would love to hear from you!  These take a bit more prep beforehand, just like documentary photo sessions, but the results are so worth it, and the planning makes the session go smoothly.  You can get more info on them here.  I’m running a special right now and you can get a family film for 50% off the regular price.  You’ll save and I’ll get to show you the magic that is your family right now.  But only the next five four THREE clients to book (as in two spots have already been claimed!) will receive this discount, so get in touch with me ASAP if you want one!  I can’t WAIT to do more of these.

Cheers,

Candice
